MENTAL MUTHA MEETS MAMALINA

Are you a mental Mum or a Mum that’s mental?

Definitely a Mum that's mental who feeds her kids dinner in the bath and takes an 8 week old camping.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Meditate? Talk? Hide?

I usually get on my yoga mat, take a walk outdoors, put down my phone, pick up my phone and call my mum, have a bath, cook. If all else fails, I lie in bed, have a good think, a better cry, and I usually end up feeling a bit better.

Do you discuss your mental health with your mum mates?

Maybe with a few close ones, but not really no.

How do you tackle mental health chats with your kid’s?

Always get down on their level - physically. Look them in the eye, offer a hug, ask them how they're feeling. Mainly - talk. We do a load of talking things out. We also love Molly Potter's book: https://www.amazon.co.uk/How-are-you-feeling-today/dp/1472906098

Who helps you in the dark? (In your pits, your mental rock bottom - who is your hero?)

 My husband and my mum.

Is it hard to talk about your mental health? (Doesn't mean on Instagram necessarily, but do you feel the stigma is lifting and do you feel safe to speak your mind, even if it is possibly 'mental'?)

It's becoming more and more normal but still not nearly as normal as it should be. Our mental health is just as important as our physical health and although you can't see it, it's powerful. The mind has a mind of its own and it's up to you to learn how to control it.

Where’s your head at? (Right here in this moment, today)

The sun has come out for the first time in weeks, we have zero plans so we'll see where the day takes us - probably somewhere with coffee and a green space.

Soft Play or Rehab?

Soft play with alcohol - it exists in Antwerp!

Jacobs Creek or a Jacobs Cracker?

 Jacobs creek

Nut Job or Nut Allergy?

Nut Job - Peanut butter for life

Self Care or Self Sabotage?

Self care. Always always.

Journal or jog?

Both!

Ask for help or happy to hermit?

It's ok to hermit sometimes - we need space to work things out. Too much noise isn't always a good thing.
