F**K YOU BLUE MONDAY!
Babe, listen if you are reading this after scrolling the world wide web and you are now convinced that 'Blue Monday' is a thing, then I am here to tell you...*spoiler alert* nah it isn't.
It is just a day that some marketing human came up with to make us buy a holiday by praying on our insecurities and vulnerabilities. It has nothing to do with it not being Christmas, it has nothing to do with you still eating cheese, it has nothing to do with YOU, because it isn't real.
Depression does not have access to a Google calendar, it doesn't know what time zone it is in, let alone what Blue Monday is and the very idea of a "Blue Monday" just perpetuates the idea that depression is just 'feeling a bit sad and sorry for yourself' and that it doesn't need to be taken seriously. Those of us that live every day with depression know all too well that a date cannot dictate our mental health and it is dangerously misleading to encourage the opposite.
If you want a better day then make it happen. Take some bloody action and nourish yourself, make plans, take stock and make stock if it feels good, after all 'Self-Care' is just taking care of yourself and that is cool.
